Date(s) - Tuesday, October 16, 2018
We have the first learning campus personal development day coming up on Tuesday 16th October.
On these days the normal timetable is suspended to allow opportunities to extend student learning beyond the classroom. All activities are related either directly to curriculum learning or form part of our provision for supporting the development of each student socially, morally, culturally and spiritually in our role of preparing for their next stage of education and beyond school.
Your child’s tutor will inform them if they need to bring in anything such as PE kit for the day.
Below is an overview of the day
Year 7: will be in engaged in dance activities providing a taste of different cultures with session delivered by a range of external experts
Year 8: will be undertaking a carousel of careers related activities, working independent under supervision to gain an understanding of the characteristics and qualities that support success.
Year 9: will be involved in local history day, starting the day with a film and talk from a visiting company and then followed up in group work led by the humanities department.
Year 10: have the opportunity to develop their science practical skills with extended opportunities to perform p#practical experiments that will support the GCSE content.
Year 11: in the morning all students will have the opportunity to focus on preparation for post 16, this maybe CV preparation or work on Finance qualifications. At lunchtime they will attend the Future’s Fair being held in the City Hall. Here they will be able to talk to a wide range of post 16/18 institutions and employers about possible routes next year and beyond. This will support the work we do to ensure all students are fully informed and receive guidance about their future choices.
