Key Stage 3

Students study four topics (Number, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics) based on the National Curriculum objectives.

Classes are in sets from the start of Year 7. Students are assessed at the beginning and end of each topic, in order to help them and the teacher evaluate progress and their understanding of the topic covered.

Emphasis is placed on mastering and developing their mathematical skills, helping them in self-assessment and then applying mathematics to practical applications.

Key Stage 4

As students commence their GCSE studies they are placed in new sets based on ability and performance.  They continue to study the four main areas but with more complex techniques and a greater emphasis on application as well as method.  Topics are planned so that techniques are available for use in other GCSE subjects.
